EU MRV CO2 emissions

The system features CO2 emissions statistics from more than 11,000 commercial vessels operating within EU region in the period 2018 – 2019.

Comparative CO2 emissions and fuel consumption data is displayed for all major shipping segments and individual vessels.

Contains fuel efficiency data for individual vessels and shipping segment as well as fuel consumption and emissions data by distance.

Data includes CO2 emissions from voyages between EU ports, including emissions arising from ships at berth or ships moving within a port.

All data is presented with interactive graphics features.

The EU MRV regulation (EU Monitoring, Reporting and Verification of CO2 emissions) was introduced by European Council (EC) and Parliament and came into force on 1 July 2015.

It requires all ships above 5000 GT to monitor and report CO2 emissions, fuel consumption, transport work and average energy efficiency. Data must be submitted to an accredited verifier.

EU represent the largest single share of the world fleet and more than 50% of the monitored fleet in terms of gross tonnage and 38% of the world number of merchant ships > 5,000 gross tonnage with a similar fleet structure.
